Update October 2026

Oct 31, 2026

One year of monthly updates!

A day late, and an hour short. Happy one year anniversary of monthly updates!

I've been doing a lot more drawing this month. I submitted Drawabox Lesson 3 and finished up Sketchbook Bootcamp at Vis Arts. So now I have my Wednesday evenings back!

Gramps and I went on a quick camping trip this month to Caledon State Park. Similar to Sky Meadow it has a hike into primitive campsites. The hike in is almost 3 miles, all on graded gravel road. This was a great trip for testing out new gear with minimal risk. You have to pack in all your water (there is nothing potable onsite). It's a beautiful location, just about an hour north of Richmond (so close!) AND right along the Potomac River. You should check it out.

I can't believe we are at a year of monthly updates. It's fun to see what I was doing in the current month of the prior year. Having record of my active interest is also insightful. I'm trying not to get distracted by all my old posts as I write this 😅.

The increased content on this site has exposed pain points that are increasingly difficult to ignore. I ought to create a public fix list so that I can hold myself accountable, and implement some changes.

I also want to unify how elements are presented on this blog. Ideally I'd create my own page similar to John's Hello World that displayed all the elements I know I would use (imgs, lists, nested lists, code blocks, etc.) and check that they work cohesively.

The end of the year gets busy. I intend to wrap up current projects, and not push myself to set unrealistic expectations about new ones. I remain wary of my tendency to load up my plate with unrealistic expectations while deluding myself that "You can do it all!", which only produces unhealthy results.

Anyways, only 8 weeks (or maybe 9) left in the year friends. Use them wisely.

P.S. Please fix your quotes system, it is currently untenable!
