Update November 2025
Nov 30, 2025
Monthly update
This month has flown right by. As is expected for all months in the hallow-giving-merry-ween time of year.
Things I did
I finished up Drawing Horror this month. It's been a few decades since I took a class at the Visual Arts Center. My middle school had an awesome after school program where we could take (free?) classes. It's worth checking out, they offer a wide variety of classes.
Over the past few years I have been learning via drawabox. This is the first time I've taken a formal/in person drawing class. Wow, I wish I had done it sooner. It was a really cool experience to be surrounded by other people who like drawing for 3 hours one day each week. It pushed me out of my comfort zone, and gave me the confidence and motivation to create finished projects. I even drew a thank you card for some of my friends. Prior to this class I don't think I felt comfortable to create something that I would share publicly.
Our teacher was AWESOME, if you ever get a chance to take a class with Dashiell Kirk do yourself a favor and DO IT, I can't recommend him enough. Especially if you are interested in pen and ink.
Gramps and I got up to speed on Stranger Things. We rewatched every previous episode, and each episode of the new and (final?) season. At approximately 40 hrs of TV time, that's equivalent to one week at a full time job.
I DOUBLED my run mileage though, wow great work. How will he do over the holidays, stay tuned to find out.
ShadowDark has reignited my TTRPG love. I ran Slime Lord as a primer (AWESOME INTRODUCTORY GAUNTLET, DO CHECK IT OUT), and then transitioned to The Lost Citadel of the Scarlet Minotaur with a group of friends.
It has been TONS OF FUN. The ShadowDark core philosophies really resonate with me. Prepping sessions from pre-written modules is far easier than it was in 5e. Part of that is due to me growing as a player/person/DM since I first started playing TTRPGs (~4 years ago?). A larger part is due to the ShadowDark ethos and concise presentation of its adventures. They let me focus on what's important, and foster a game that is portable and accessible. Prepping sessions, and running games has never been easier for me. Which should mean MORE playing, which is the ultimate goal. I love hanging with my friends and rolling dice, you aren't alone Will Byers. I intend to continue to prioritize playing TTRPGs.
Anyways, that's all for this month. Pretty soon I'll see you in the New Year.
