Rabbit Rabbit - Month of May
May 01, 2025
Some believe that saying "Rabbit Rabbit" on the first day of the month brings good luck. I didn't say it first thing this morning, but maybe making it the first thing I post will work instead.
I think I heard that saying in a show or movie recently but can't remember which one. For some reason, it was in my head today. How fortuitous.
This month I am pushing myself to post more frequently. I feel like I have put off creating posts for some ideas that I have been sitting on, because I either haven't made the time to 'finalize' them or have just felt reluctant to share them.
What good is it to carve out my own corner of the internet if I don't furnish it by sharing my own ideas and interests? I created this post as a way to hold myself accountable to share more frequently for this month. I think adding 4 more posts is a reasonable and attainable goal.
Potential topics:
- An update to my Music page, featuring DuckDB
- More humanistic posts? So far, posts have been predominantly technical and I want to try and branch out to a broader audience
- More of the same as well, smaller workflow improvement tips or technical tools I have found helpful and interesting
I've been really hung up by feeling that my work isn't complete enough to share, and in order for it to be done, the result would have to be something monolithic. Generally what happens is I keep adding and adding to the potential post, and it never gets published, or I get so far down the rabbit hole, I can no longer see the forest for the trees, and I lose interest in the topic altogether.
But lately I have been getting a lot of value out of other blogs where people are posting shorter and more frequent content. This pithy style has really encouraged me to try something different and to share more of my own ideas, even if they are not fully formed yet. This site by Simon Willison has undoubtedly been one of my largest sources of inspiration!
The best type of code is code that runs, so I reckon the best type of blog is one that posts!
Rabbit Rabbit! More to come.
